River’s Edge Clubhouse at Sandpiper Resort (Harrison Mills): This is one of my personal favorite outings in the valley because of the whole experience from start to finish. The drive in under the towering canopy of trees as you park the car immediately sets a calm, peaceful mood. The patio itself is built directly around majestic old-growth cedars—offering a mix of covered and open-air seating overlooking the golf course, the Harrison River, and the surrounding mountains. It’s an incredible spot for a slow weekend brunch or a relaxed lunch. My favorite way to spend an afternoon here is grabbing a meal on the patio and then taking a gentle stroll through the trees out to the eagle viewing platform before heading home.
High Tea in the Garden & Charming Spots
Karen’s Café & Gifts (Harrison Hot Springs Road): Tucked right next to Miami Creek, this is one of the absolute sweetest local gems in the area. They’ve set up a cozy garden layout with plush outdoor cushions right near the water that feels like something straight out of Alice in Wonderland or an old-fashioned Victorian picnic. You can sit on the covered patio or settle onto the grass to enjoy a traditional High Tea—complete with tiered trays of fresh scones, delicate finger sandwiches, and warm tea. It is a whimsical, storybook-style outing that’s fantastic for romantic afternoons, family outings, or anyone who loves a slow, charming treat.
Homestead Cider (Seabird Island Road): Tucked against the mountainside and surrounded by orchards. It’s wonderfully laid-back, kid and pet-friendly, with visiting food trucks, small-batch craft cider, and outdoor fires when weather permits.
The Horn of Plenty (Agassiz): That charming, iconic yellow house right in Agassiz! A cozy local staple with a lovely country vibe and classic comfort food.
Traditional Pub Patios & Local Haunts
If you're craving cold draft beer, hearty comfort food, and a relaxed, unpretentious patio atmosphere, these classic valley taverns deliver:
The Sasquatch Inn Pub (Harrison Mills): An absolute fixture along Highway 7. It has that true, iconic local pub vibe inside and out, making it an essential pitstop after a day on the river or trails. The kitchen serves up classic pub fare—plus a surprisingly great selection of vegetarian dishes and daily specials that keep locals coming back.
The Settler Pub (Agassiz): Located right in Agassiz along Miami Creek, this log-cabin style pub features a large, covered patio. Its location right along the creek makes it a very convenient, easy local spot to grab an outdoor pint.
Dewdney Pub (Dewdney Trunk Rd): If you're venturing a little further out toward the Fraser River backroads, Dewdney Pub is an unexpected gem. It offers a wonderfully relaxed, classic country pub patio setup.
Sunset Cocktails & Waterfront Patios
Morgan’s Bistro & The Local Greek Restaurant (Harrison): Located right on Esplanade in Harrison. Both feature elevated or glassed-in patios that are unmatched for watching the evening light shift over the lake while enjoying a sit-down dinner.
Ozarks Boathouse (Rockwell Drive): Located right on the water on the drive out toward Green Point, their lakefront setup lets you enjoy craft BBQ while listening to the water lap against the shore.
The Islands Bar at Harrison Hot Springs Resort: Perfect for a pre-dinner cocktail and appies right near the boardwalk.
